A native New Yorker, Barbara Hart was born and raised in Brooklyn. A life long dog owner. Her first dog was an Irish Setter rescued from the pound by her father.

Ms. Hart's early paintings explored the power and force of dogs running for a stick, catching a frisbee or leaping into space. As she continued to paint her love of dogs - dogs in motion, and their pleasure at play; she painted a portrait of her own dog. Favorable reaction from friends and family led her to paint commissioned dog portraits for others. Ms. Hart enjoys communicating that special relationship between people and their dogs. Her compassion, reverence and respect for animals are wonderfully apparent in her dog portraits.
